Doussie

Afzelia bipindensis

  • Primary hardwood
  • CITES listed — Appendix II
Doussié is a stable, very durable reddish-brown hardwood widely used for windows, doors and exterior joinery in demanding climates. Its movement in service is among the smallest of any commercial hardwood, and it holds paint and finishes well. Yellow deposits in the pores can bleed when wetted and may stain adjacent surfaces. African Afzelia populations were added to CITES Appendix II at CoP19.
