Tchitola is a reddish-brown hardwood with darker streaking and a coarse texture, often carrying resin canals that appear as fine dark lines. It is moderately durable and used for joinery, furniture and decorative veneer where a mahogany-like appearance is wanted at lower cost. Resin can gum abrasives and interfere with finishing.
