Mukulungu is a very dense, very durable dark red-brown hardwood related to Moabi. It is highly resistant to decay and insects and is used for heavy construction, hydraulic works, sleepers and exterior decking. It is difficult to dry and hard on tools, and the fine dust can be irritant. Traded in smaller volumes than the flagship species.
