Acajou

Khaya ivorensis

Khaya ivorensis is the principal African mahogany, a medium-density pinkish- to reddish-brown hardwood with a moderately coarse, lustrous surface. It works and finishes well and is a long-standing furniture, joinery and boat-building timber. It is less durable than the Entandrophragma species and is best kept out of ground contact. African Khaya populations were added to CITES Appendix II at CoP19.
